Fall Birthday

Today is my dear hubby's birthday so I created this card with love for him.  Fall is one of my favorite seasons.  (Second only to Spring)  There is so much God-given beauty in this season especially where I live.  There are so many things that make Fall a special time....crisp, cooler air; gorgeous leaves; beautiful mums and flowers; caramel apples; apple cider; bon fires; hay rides.  Just to name a few.

So I was thrilled when Concord & 9th released their Thankful Leaves Turnabout stamp set and I have used it here with Gina K Designs inks.  Check out the Concord & 9th release here.

I used Gina K Designs inks in the following colors for stamping the leaves... Wild Dandelion, Warm Cocoa, Tomato Soup and Fresh Asparagus.  Gina K inks are gorgeous and stamp so beautifully.  Get yours here.

For the greeting, I stacked 3 white die cuts using the Sunny Studio Large Happy die and topped it off with a Gina K Designs Fresh Asparagus card stock die cut.  This is such a fun die to use on any celebration card.  You can visit Sunny Studio here.  Then I glued the die cuts to a piece of vellum to off-set it from the busy background.  Then I thought the "Happy" needed some sparkle so I colored it with my Wink of Stella pen and topped that off with Crystal Glaze.  It doesn't show up in the picture but it makes the die cuts stand out more.  I also used a sentiment strip for the word Birthday using a stamp from the Lawn Fawn Simply Sentiments stamp set.  The sentiments in this set are ideal for sentiment strips and there are several occasions to choose from in the set.  Check out Lawn Fawn here.

Just for fun and because the greeting looked a little plain, I tucked a few leaves from the Pretty Pink Posh Happy Turkey stamp set onto the corners of the vellum.  These leaves were stamped with Gina K Designs inks.  For two of the leaves I used two different inks on the same leaf giving them a more "fall" color.

I mounted the card panel on a Gina K Designs Tomato Soup card stock card base using a piece of craft foam cut slightly smaller than the panel in between.

I hand wrote my message inside the card and tucked it into a Gina K Designs Tomato Soup envelope.

You can also find many of the supplies I used for this card at Simon Says Stamp if you are interested in them.  They are a great one-stop shop for all your card making suppplies.

Thanks for stopping by.  I hope you enjoyed this card and will stop by again soon!  Have a great day!

Baby Shower Invitation

Hello!  Welcome to Cate's Cards Ink!
I'm happy you found me.

Today I'm featuring the first card, rather cards that I made, as it is my daughter's baby shower invitation and I mass produced a "few" of them.

Please forgive my poor photography skills.  I hope to get better photos of future cards.  Since this was my first ever card, I had no idea I would become addicted to card making and that it would lead to blogging or any of the things that it's led to.

For this card I used white card stock for the base.  For the shaker background I used a gray chevron card stock I purchased on Amazon.  The top layer of the shaker is Gina K Designs In the Navy card stock.  I used a circle die to cut out the middle and added Hot Off the Press Acetate behind it.  I inserted some Lucy's Cards Twilight sequins in the window and sealed it down with foam tape surrounding the circle.

I then added the following die cuts...

Elephant - My Favorite Things Adorable Elephants Stamp Set & Dies
Umbrella - Poppy Stamps - Stitched Umbrella dies
Baby Word - Simon Says Stamp Word die

Lastly, I heat embossed the word "shower" from the Simon Says Stamp Baby Stamp set under the word baby using Versamark Ink, Hero Arts White Embossing Powder and my Wagner heat gun.

Inside (not shown) I used Taylored Expressions Invitation stamp and filled in each line with handwritten information regarding the shower details.

The invitations were then mailed in Gina K Designs In the Navy Envelopes with the recipients' addresses on labels so they would show up on the dark envelopes.
